Cowpoke Roundup

I decided that if I wait to update the rest of the year that I won't get to posting ever! So I am just going to start from the most recent and go back.

This weekend my sister invited us to the Thanksgiving Point Cowpoke Roundup. They had a bunch of activities for the kids including Gunny Sac Races, Roping steers, Pony Rides, Face Painting, etc. We had such a fun time. Of course Kolten had to get all dressed up for the part and wore his cowboy boots and hat. He wanted to wear a long sleeved "cowboy" shirt and was so upset that I wouldn't let him because it was sooo hot outside. Horrible mother, I know.

Kolten's favorite part was roping the steers. He brought his own rope of course and felt pretty cool. He had fun riding the pony and wanted to go more and more. He is convinced that we need to buy a horse for him. He "promises" that he will take care of it :)

Bryton is just game to do anything and as long as he is involved in the action he has a smile on his face. He was a little hesitant to ride the pony at first but with Aunt Cassie walking right beside him he became willing and seemed to love it.

They had some shooting for the kids to do with water guns. Brent, Cassie's boyfriend, took these pictures of Kolten and his hilarious faces while trying to get the cans down. I don't know if he is making these faces because the gun is soo hard to squirt or if he is just really into it.

I know you are thinking that these are the cutest boys ever!!!

Thank goodness for Aunts because Cassie was brave enough to go on this tractor ride that was pulling several of these cows. This ride was the longest ride ever! Bryton loved it at first but after several minutes of riding all over he was finished. The tractor was driving pretty quickly and doing several donuts in the middle of the field. I would have probably lost my lunch but Cassie still had a smile on her face!

Kolten's favorite part!

Zoo Day!

Even though we have two wild animals of our own at home.....

we decided to head to the zoo for the morning. It was really fun and of course we ALL thouroughly enjoyed it.

Here is Trevor doing all the work while I play with my camera.... :) We were able to see them do the elephant demonstration and that was interesting. We loved the new baby elephant Zuri.

These monkeys were hilarious! They sing songs and they are LOUD. They sit right outside of a building with some really noisy monkeys in it but when you come outside and hear these ones it is a surprise. We kept thinking that it was a speaker or something, but you can see in this picture that the monkeys mouth is wide open. If you could only hear the sound coming out....amazing! This was my favorite part of the zoo.

It's funny to walk through the zoo. There are a lot of new things, but so much of it looks just like it did when I was younger (oh, so many years ago).

Doing the fun carousel ride.

I asked Trevor to get a picture of me to prove that I am there too, so pardon the very overexposed picture.

The train ride is a lot shorter than I remember but we had a great time. We love doing fun stuff together as a family!

My 3 biggest STUDS!!

Fishing

Trevor and Kolten have really enjoyed fishing this summer. I rarely go with them because Bryton is so curious these days that it's really hard to keep him out of the water, destroying poles, etc. So I decided to go and meet them while they were fishing at one of the urban ponds. So for the 15 minutes that we were there until Bryton was soaking wet and crying because we wouldn't let him go up to his head in water I was able to get some pictures.

Trevor is so good at getting the poles all set up and bait put on them. He has always enjoyed fishing and I think now that he has a little sidekick to go with him he enjoys it even more.

Kolten was by the shore catching some bluegill fish with his plastic bag.
Bryton refusing to put his shoes on and taking them off everytime I put them on....why?

I wish that I could go with them more often and I will continue to try because I know that soon enough these boys will be plenty old to bait there own poles and I will be wishing that I could just chase them around again.

Living Planet Aquarium

We had the chance to go to the Living Planet Aquarium the other day. We had such a great time. Although any time with these cool cats is loads of fun!

I would have to say that the penguin exhibit was my second favorite thing there. The first would have to be there octopus. I never knew much about those creatures but after going to the aquarium and being amazed and then doing some youtube research afterwards, I am absolutely in awe of them. The penguins were pretty cool too :) It was fun to watch them jump out of the water, they seemed weightless. They are pretty busy little guys but soooo cute.

They have some awesome looking fish!

and a very large turtle.....

They also had snakes, lizards, sharks, frogs, lobster, jellyfish and of course their stingray exhibit. Kolten had a hard time agreeing to touch one but Bryton would have jumped in with them if I would have let him.

I just love spending time with my family! It is so fun to see my boys so amazed at things and the excitement that they exude.
