Meet Mr. Amazing! (AKA Ed)

This is Ed.
Full name is Edmund Sciore (pronounced "Shorey")
He is my husband as of April 19th.
He is amazing!
Our story is my favorite so I figured I would share it :)

Obviously so much has changed since my last post and it's not just my last name.  I was in survival mode back then.  I was super happy to be at the point that I was and surviving good on my own with the three boys but it was definitely tough.  I don't regret getting a divorce. I still think it was the best thing for my kids and I.  Some people know the ins and outs of my divorce but lets just say it wasn't the cut and dry divorce that I was hoping for. I didn't know what to expect for the boys and I in the months and years to come.  I just knew that each day was one more day that I could show the kids how much I loved them and provide them with the things that they needed and I wanted to have no regrets with how I did that. So that was my focus!

Back to Mr. Amazing!  Ed and I worked together about 5 years ago at IMC hospital in the Emergency Room.  We had a great crew there and work was fun and we always had a great time.  Him and I worked together for a little over a year.  Got to know each other while working together in a normal co-worker kind of way.  When IMC quit using agency we both went our separate ways. We would do the usual Happy Birthday messages on Facebook but that was it.  I occasionally wondered what had happened with his life but never put too much thought into it.  Well during my divorce when I was putting on the pounds during my pregnancy Ed shows up at Lakeview hospital to work in the Emergency Department!  It was fun seeing him again and catching up on life while at work.  After I had delivered Daxton Ed would text me and ask how I was and so on.  When I went back to work we would chat as usual.  He even once would tease me about getting back into the dating scene and actually tried to set me up with his roommate. I wasn't really ready to get back into dating.  How does one even date after a divorce?? I had no clue and didn't even want to go there.  I was good on my own and was really just enjoying the motherhood thing.

Well eventually Ed texted me asking if I would want to meet him for breakfast and grab a quick bite to eat.  We met up, had a blast laughing and reminiscing. Daxton hung out with us for breakfast and afterwards we went our separate ways.  That happened a couple of times over the next while.  I happened to end up back in the dating arena somehow. After telling Ed about my first date he made a comment that he was hoping to get the first date.  Totally shocked me but we laughed it off and continued being friends.  We had decided to go to the Haunted House together and from that date forward started our dating time.  I continued to date other guys and was having fun learning a lot of new things about myself. Dating is so different after you have been married for 9 years, it's different when you are in your 30's as opposed to 20's and it's definitely different with kids! Eventually our relationship got to a point that Ed was the only one that I wanted to date and soon enough the only one that I wanted to be with forever!  There are a lot of fun memories during dating and some good stories to hold on to. Let's just say dating a stubborn Mom with three kids isn't the easiest thing that Ed has probably ever done. ;)

Ed has always been someone that is just an all around great guy.  He has paved his trail during life and you can't find anyone along the way that has a bad thing to say about him.  He is a hard worker, treats everyone with respect, loves to show others that he cares, outright hilarious and obviously very good looking. I could go on for several paragraphs bragging about how amazing he is.  But the most amazing thing about him is HOW he loves my kids and I and how he treats us.  I never pictured that I would be married in 2013!  I thought that it might just be me and the kids forever.  I was fine with that and was enjoying it. Then walked Ed into our lives and has brought nothing but happiness with him.  We love him so much and are loving our new life with him in it! I couldn't be happier at this time in my life than I am now!

One small step

Ok, so this has been on the back of my mind for exactly 7 1/2 months now.  I would look at my blog and just stare at the pictures of a happy family.  It reminds me of what I thought life was going to bring, what goals I had and what  my trials were.  It would bring back good memories, bad memories and now painful feelings.  I knew eventually I would have to change my blog.  I want to keep up on our lives and memories so that we have this record but knew that I could only post vaguely if I didn't want to put it all out there or leave everyone with questions. I have tried to only tell people that are close or that would ask questions. Eventually everyone will find out, wether by other people, myself, family or even Trevor.  So tonight I'm doing it.....I have finally changed my blog to show what my happiness and misery is these days.  I'm done trying to act like I'm not broken or that things are ok when I'm asked by people.  I mean they are good.  I am doing my best at providing for my boys and not putting a damper in their lives. We are making great memories, having fun and living each day to its fullest. I try to act like I am unshaken and that the situation that we are in right now is great and normal. They are young and so they believe me.  They are also easily distracted by fun activities, ice cream, story time and lots of cuddles. I know that someday they will have a lot of questions for Trevor and I and possibly a lot of blame and anger for us so right now I am enjoying every moment where I can still be held high in their lives, still be needed when they have an owie, bad dream, cuddle and answers to every why question that ever was for a 5 year old.

This is also the most difficult time in my life so far. I am shaken. It's sooo emotionally painful. It's physically hard.  I know that we are here on this earth to experience trials and to learn from them.  I know the saying that "God only gives us what we have strength to overcome" but also find myself questioning this.  I guess I struggle the most as to why my struggle and trial in life has to affect my children so much.  Their innocent lives that wonder how many potato bugs they can fit in a jar has to be shaken and stricken with the long term effects of divorce because of Trevor and I.  It wasn't a choice that I feel I could have made differently, and I still feel that it will result in a better life for them, but it instantly causes them future trials and pain.  I have new goals and a new road is forming for us to follow but somedays the smack in the face that it's only me here to guide these boys on this new road is scary and overwhelming.

So today I feel that I am taking a step to being ok with our new life.  Even if it is as little as changing the pictures on my blog and taking away what is no longer. Hopefully it leads to more steps in the right direction.

Cowpoke Roundup

I decided that if I wait to update the rest of the year that I won't get to posting ever! So I am just going to start from the most recent and go back.

This weekend my sister invited us to the Thanksgiving Point Cowpoke Roundup. They had a bunch of activities for the kids including Gunny Sac Races, Roping steers, Pony Rides, Face Painting, etc. We had such a fun time. Of course Kolten had to get all dressed up for the part and wore his cowboy boots and hat. He wanted to wear a long sleeved "cowboy" shirt and was so upset that I wouldn't let him because it was sooo hot outside. Horrible mother, I know.

Kolten's favorite part was roping the steers. He brought his own rope of course and felt pretty cool. He had fun riding the pony and wanted to go more and more. He is convinced that we need to buy a horse for him. He "promises" that he will take care of it :)

Bryton is just game to do anything and as long as he is involved in the action he has a smile on his face. He was a little hesitant to ride the pony at first but with Aunt Cassie walking right beside him he became willing and seemed to love it.

They had some shooting for the kids to do with water guns. Brent, Cassie's boyfriend, took these pictures of Kolten and his hilarious faces while trying to get the cans down. I don't know if he is making these faces because the gun is soo hard to squirt or if he is just really into it.

I know you are thinking that these are the cutest boys ever!!!

Thank goodness for Aunts because Cassie was brave enough to go on this tractor ride that was pulling several of these cows. This ride was the longest ride ever! Bryton loved it at first but after several minutes of riding all over he was finished. The tractor was driving pretty quickly and doing several donuts in the middle of the field. I would have probably lost my lunch but Cassie still had a smile on her face!

Kolten's favorite part!

Zoo Day!

Even though we have two wild animals of our own at home.....

we decided to head to the zoo for the morning. It was really fun and of course we ALL thouroughly enjoyed it.

Here is Trevor doing all the work while I play with my camera.... :) We were able to see them do the elephant demonstration and that was interesting. We loved the new baby elephant Zuri.

These monkeys were hilarious! They sing songs and they are LOUD. They sit right outside of a building with some really noisy monkeys in it but when you come outside and hear these ones it is a surprise. We kept thinking that it was a speaker or something, but you can see in this picture that the monkeys mouth is wide open. If you could only hear the sound coming out....amazing! This was my favorite part of the zoo.

It's funny to walk through the zoo. There are a lot of new things, but so much of it looks just like it did when I was younger (oh, so many years ago).

Doing the fun carousel ride.

I asked Trevor to get a picture of me to prove that I am there too, so pardon the very overexposed picture.

The train ride is a lot shorter than I remember but we had a great time. We love doing fun stuff together as a family!

Fishing

Trevor and Kolten have really enjoyed fishing this summer. I rarely go with them because Bryton is so curious these days that it's really hard to keep him out of the water, destroying poles, etc. So I decided to go and meet them while they were fishing at one of the urban ponds. So for the 15 minutes that we were there until Bryton was soaking wet and crying because we wouldn't let him go up to his head in water I was able to get some pictures.

Trevor is so good at getting the poles all set up and bait put on them. He has always enjoyed fishing and I think now that he has a little sidekick to go with him he enjoys it even more.

Kolten was by the shore catching some bluegill fish with his plastic bag.
Bryton refusing to put his shoes on and taking them off everytime I put them on....why?

I wish that I could go with them more often and I will continue to try because I know that soon enough these boys will be plenty old to bait there own poles and I will be wishing that I could just chase them around again.

Living Planet Aquarium

We had the chance to go to the Living Planet Aquarium the other day. We had such a great time. Although any time with these cool cats is loads of fun!

I would have to say that the penguin exhibit was my second favorite thing there. The first would have to be there octopus. I never knew much about those creatures but after going to the aquarium and being amazed and then doing some youtube research afterwards, I am absolutely in awe of them. The penguins were pretty cool too :) It was fun to watch them jump out of the water, they seemed weightless. They are pretty busy little guys but soooo cute.

They have some awesome looking fish!

and a very large turtle.....

They also had snakes, lizards, sharks, frogs, lobster, jellyfish and of course their stingray exhibit. Kolten had a hard time agreeing to touch one but Bryton would have jumped in with them if I would have let him.

I just love spending time with my family! It is so fun to see my boys so amazed at things and the excitement that they exude.
